On November 23-24, a team of our students from the Computer Science Honor Society—Roenne, Dana, Artem, Tanvi, and Vivian—participated in the Counterspell Busan Hackathon held at Tongmyeong University. The two-day, overnight hackathon offered a valuable opportunity to interact with and learn from experienced programmers outside their usual community.
Working from Saturday morning, through the night, and into Sunday afternoon, the team developed a burger-making game called “Let Us Cook.” Built using Unity 6 and C#, with graphics designed entirely by the team using Krita and Procreate, the game featured engaging mechanics: players receive randomized burger orders, assemble the correct orders to score points, and lose points for mistakes. Players could adjust settings and quit anytime, showcasing a well-thought-out and user-friendly design.
Their hard work paid off, earning them 2nd place in the GameJam category. The team will receive prizes from Counterspell and have been featured in several local news articles including 국제신문 The Kookje Daily News (see here).
The hackathon was an unforgettable experience that combined fun, learning, and camaraderie, leaving the students inspired and motivated for future projects!
