Busan Foreign School (BFS) is dedicated to fostering growth, innovation, and well-being for our students, families, and staff. Our recent campus renovation project, initiated two years ago, is a testament to this commitment.
The renovation team, formed to lead this ambitious transformation, visited several prestigious international schools in Hong Kong and Thailand—Chinese International School (CIS), Hong Kong International School (HKIS), The Independent Schools Foundation (ISF), The Harbour School, and NIST Bangkok. These visits provided valuable insights into how modern educational spaces can inspire learning and engagement.
By combining the team’s research with feedback from last year’s Community Surveys, we identified the key areas needing the most improvement. The result was a well-formed plan for upgrading and enhancing several key areas at BFS.
Science Labs: The middle and high school science labs received a major overhaul, including new stations, advanced ventilation systems, a new fume hood, upgraded power lines, and enhanced safety with a new eye wash station.
Early Childhood Playground: Safety and fun go hand-in-hand with new flooring, an accessible ramp, and an upgraded access door, ensuring our youngest learners can play securely.
Band Room: Complete with new soundproofing, walls, windows, and sound-dampening curtains, our enhanced band room is ready for top-tier performances.
New Cafeteria Team and Vision: With the arrival of two new chefs and a nutritionist, our lunch menu has been revamped to offer balanced, healthy meals using locally sourced ingredients.
Cafeteria Lounge: The former snack bar has become a cool hangout spot with healthy vending machines for the entire BFS Shark community.
Rooftop: We transformed the rooftop into a multipurpose space with outdoor seating and a futsal practice field, perfect for student recreation.
Main Lobby: Now warm and welcoming, our new lobby features an informative screen to keep everyone updated on school-wide events and news.
Atrium: The former main lobby has been redesigned into a bright, open atrium, showcasing BFS’s rich history on its walls.
Growth at BFS means embracing change, and we’re excited to see these new spaces inspire learning, creativity, and collaboration for years to come.
