Women in STEM | BFS Alumna Spotlight
Joy (Jaeeun) Lee, BFS Class of 2009, is now a clinical psychologist and research scientist at Yale School of Medicine, supporting patients through innovative treatment studies.
Her journey from BFS to a PhD and clinical research career reflects resilience, curiosity, and the courage to adapt.
Her advice to BFS students:
“Find what excites you. Explore it deeply. If your path changes, keep moving forward.”

On March 21, our student-led BFS Service Club visited Yongho Social Welfare Center, putting our SHARK Values into action in a simple, meaningful way. Students prepared and served meals, spent time connecting with elderly residents, and worked alongside staff to support the day’s operations.
These small moments—serving a meal, sharing conversation, lending a hand—reflect what Service, Heart, and Responsibility look like in everyday practice.
Even during spring break, our students chose to show up and give their time to others. A great example of what it means to be part of the BFS community.

Last week, BFS welcomed Mr. Jordan Hattar, founder of Help4Refugees, for his third visit — continuing a meaningful partnership that helps students understand global challenges and their role as changemakers.
Grade 5 students learned how access to education can transform lives in refugee communities, while high school students joined a live video call with a young refugee mother, gaining a powerful first hand perspective.
We are grateful to Mr. Hernandez for helping foster this impactful collaboration.
