Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Our Middle School is thoughtfully designed to address the developmental needs of students during this transitional period of their lives. We prioritize creating a positive, supportive, and empowering environment to best prepare them for the challenges of high school. Middle School students experience a newfound level of independence, allowing them, for the first time at BFS, to choose elective courses in areas such as the Arts, World Languages, Physical Education, and more. Simultaneously, our core subject areas, including Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies, are crafted to engage and challenge students.

Our ultimate goal is that as they enter high school, students will have a strong academic foundation while also being kind, well-rounded individuals with integrity.

High School (Grades 9-12)

High school is a pivotal time in a student’s life. The experiences and skills gained during this time often shape the trajectory of a student’s future. This is why at BFS, we believe in more than just vast knowledge – we believe education includes discovery, exploration, self-awareness, passions, and seeing the world through different perspectives. Our certified teachers use the curriculum framework “Understanding for Design” to create engaging learning experiences tailored to each classroom. This student-centered approach is complemented by effective teaching techniques, ensuring that every student receives a world-class education.

At the high school level, all BFS students are enrolled in our college preparatory program, which includes Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The core AP program encompasses subjects such as English, History, Economics, Chemistry, and Psychology, primarily designed for upper-level students (grades 11 and 12). Additionally, we offer the AP Capstone™ diploma, an innovative program by the College Board that equips students with critical skills for college success, including research, collaboration, and communication.

Each year, students earn one graduation credit by completing either a core required or elective course. Students must accumulate a total of 26 credits. Specific graduation requirements can be found in the Student Handbook, which families and students can reference for further details.
