Boys Basketball Recap 🏀
Our boys made the big trip to Jeju and competed with the big boys — and they more than held their own. With one of the youngest teams in the tournament, the future is looking very bright.
Every game was competitive, and the team showed resilience, teamwork, and real growth throughout the weekend. Two nail-biters — 56–53 against tournament champions SJA and 34–32 against NLCS — could have gone either way.
While the results didn’t fall our way, there is plenty to be proud of and a strong foundation to build on. This group is growing fast — and this is just the beginning.

Girls Basketball Recap 🏀
At the KISAC tournament hosted right here at BFS, our HS girls basketball team delivered an outstanding performance, earning a well-deserved second-place finish.
The team had to dig deep, leaning into one another after battling adversity and losing two players to injuries. Their resilience and tenacity defined the weekend.
Defense set the tone in a hard-fought semifinal win over SJA, and the girls competed relentlessly through the championship matchup against NLCS.
A special congratulations to Maria Y. and Joy C. for being named to the All-Tournament Team — a tremendous recognition of their leadership and performance.

The basketball Battle of Busan against our cross-town rivals International School of Busan has concluded for the 25–26 season.
The boys’ team earned wins in both matchups and finished the series with a 46–39 score line to lift the trophy once again. The girls’ team showed determination and resilience throughout the final contest, ultimately falling 32–19 after a strong effort.
We’re proud of the commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship demonstrated by all of our student-athletes.

It`s National School Counseling Week, and BFS is fortunate to have two outstanding counselors who support our community and amplify student success:
💙 Mr. Glenn Saunders has served BFS for 18 years in a variety of roles from Social Studies teacher to Vice Principal and as Director of Admissions and College Counseling since 2013. In his role as College Counselor, he collaborates with Seniors on the application process, and he cheers them on as Seniors navigate the emotional roller-coaster of acceptances. Mr. Saunders is an integral part of student success at BFS.
💙 Ms. Sofia Singley has served as the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Counselor for the past three years. She has implemented the valuable new Wayfinder program across K-12 with lessons that are age appropriate and relevant. Ms. Singley supports students with emotional regulation, friendship conflicts, and life challenges with empathy and care. Ms. Singley makes a difference at BFS every day.
We are so grateful to our counselors for all of their support to our school community!

On Tuesday, January 27, six BFS middle schoolers proudly represented Busan Foreign School at the KIMEA (Korea International Music Educators Association) Middle School Honor Band Festival, hosted by Chadwick International School. Anthony L. (trombone), Sami T. (percussion), Amy T. (trombone), Hannah K. (flute), Sunha D. (flute), and Gemma K. (flute) were selected to perform in three honor ensembles alongside talented musicians from 13 international schools from across Korea. History hits a high note in Grade 4!
In Social Studies, our Grade 4 historians have been researching the thirteen colonies to build background knowledge for understanding the causes of the American Revolution. To wrap up their learning, students teamed up to write original songs about colonial life.
From researching to writing lyrics, revising, rehearsing, and finally performing for their classmates—these students did it all! Through this music-based strategy, students strengthened their critical thinking, writing, collaboration, and presentation skills, and they had a lot of fun along the way.
Our Active communicators showed that learning history can be creative, engaging, and collaborative!
