A small group of Grade 5 girls at Busan Foreign School is taking part in a special program called Girls’ Lunch Bunch, a supportive space designed to help students strengthen confidence, build healthy friendships, and prepare for the transition to Middle School.
Meeting weekly on Mondays during lunch, Girls’ Lunch Bunch offers a relaxed and private setting just for girls, where they can talk openly about friendship, peer dynamics, and the challenges that sometimes come with growing up. This girls-only format provides a safe and comfortable environment for honest conversations and meaningful reflection—without taking time away from classroom learning.
As students approach Middle School, relationships can become more complex, and learning how to navigate emotions and social situations is an important part of development. Girls’ Lunch Bunch encourages students to support each other, listen with empathy, and build the confidence needed to handle real-life situations with resilience and kindness.
What Students Are Learning
Throughout the program, students are guided in:
-
Expressing thoughts and feelings clearly and respectfully
-
Rejecting bullying behavior and standing up for themselves and others
-
Building empathy, cooperation, and mutual respect
-
Strengthening confidence in social interactions
These skills strongly reflect BFS’s SHARK Values. Students are becoming:
Socially Conscious, Hardworking in strengthening positive habits, Active Communicators who speak and listen respectfully, Respectful peers, and young people committed to Keep Learning as they grow.
A Meaningful Time to Connect
Our school counselor truly values this weekly time with Grade 5 girls, providing an opportunity to listen more closely, support student voice, and help students navigate this important stage of development. Girls’ Lunch Bunch reinforces personal growth that supports both academic success and social wellbeing—foundations that help students thrive in Middle School and beyond.
