On Friday evening, our school community came together for the Elementary Art Showcase and Winter Concert, an event designed not only to celebrate student learning but also to spotlight the creativity and hard work of our young artists and performers.
The hallways were lined with student artwork, thoughtfully created throughout the quarter, offering families a chance to see the imagination, skill, and care that students put into their projects.
The celebration continued in the auditorium, where our Elementary musicians shared a heartwarming program of winter songs that brought smiles, applause, and a joyful start to the season.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Ms. Soohyun Hwang (Art) and Ms. Becki Pochon (Music) for guiding and inspiring our students, and to everyone who contributed to the success of the evening—including the Operations & Marketing teams, Mr. Jeff Kuo, Ms. Nikki Harris, the MS & HS student accompanists, and Ms. Park, our pianist.
Thank you to all who joined us for a meaningful and festive evening celebrating creativity, community, and student achievement.

At BFS, we empower students to lead, plan, and bring our school community together—and yesterday’s Middle School Quarterly Assembly was the perfect example. This quarter, our Grade 8 students took full charge, showcasing our Hardworking SHARK value through creativity, collaboration, and tons of school spirit! From forming committees to managing logistics (and even teaming up with the High School For Girls Club), our 8th graders drove the entire event with impressive self-direction and leadership.
In the gym, students battled it out in Capture the Flag, and put their artistic skills to the test in a hilarious round of Non-Dominant Hand Pictionary—trust us, the results were unforgettable! The assembly wrapped up with student-produced videos highlighting all the amazing moments and accomplishments from Quarter 2. We love seeing our students take the lead, challenge themselves, and build community—the BFS way.

The BFS Middle School Girls Soccer Team showed significant growth this season—each practice bringing stronger teamwork, better communication, and greater confidence on the field. After a tough Battle of Busan matchup against our cross-town rivals, the team bounced back with determination, earning a solid win over DIS and carrying that momentum into a second-place finish at the SKAIS Tournament to close out the season. The team’s effort and improvement throughout the year have helped lay a strong foundation for future success.
It was a year of ups and downs for the Middle School Boys Soccer program, but also one filled with clear progress. After a tough loss in the Battle of Busan, the team continued to show resilience and a commitment to improvement, with each practice bringing steady development across all areas of play. Interest in the program remains strong, with enough players to field two full teams, and our B Team showing tremendous growth and success throughout the season.
Although the B Team came up just short in the final match against DIS at the SKAIS Tournament, they have built a solid foundation for a bright future. A big shout-out to Mikhail S., leading scorer for the A Team, and to Kirill B. and Artyom G., top scorers for the B Team. Way to go Sharks!

At Busan Foreign School, AP Seminar helps students learn to think deeply, question thoughtfully, and communicate with confidence. As one of the first schools in Korea to offer the AP Capstone Diploma Program, BFS provides students with early access to the inquiry-driven, university-level skills that colleges value. With intentionally small class sizes, students benefit from close mentorship, personalized guidance, and rich academic discussions.
This year, AP Seminar teams are exploring powerful real-world questions, including:
• The connection between physical activity, chronic disease, and depression
• Whether racing should prioritize entertainment or safety
• How socioeconomic status shapes life in the United States
Through externally assessed performance tasks and a final AP exam, students practice evaluating evidence, analyzing multiple perspectives, and presenting their findings with clarity — essential skills for college and beyond.
AP Seminar is more than a course; it’s the first step toward the full AP Capstone Diploma, a rigorous two-year pathway recognized around the world for developing strong researchers and communicators.
We are proud of our AP Seminar students and excited to see where their ideas take them next.
