The Selection by Kiera Cass is a romantic debut novel about a poor girl named America Singer who gets chosen to compete against 34 other girls for the crown prince of Illéa. America has to leave her family and home to fight for something she doesn’t even want. I would rate this book four out of five stars because the characters and interactions are realistic and relatable, but some parts were too intense or hard to read. I chose this book because the conflict reminded me of The Hunger Games but with a more fantasy and romantic theme. I would recommend this book to people who like romance and are interested in books or novels about royalty or romantic fantasy.
