The Best At It by Maulik Pancholy
Fantasy/Science Fiction

Kenneth Oppel is known for making his books exciting and compelling, and Bloom is especially not an exception. Bloom is a fantasy book set in Salt Springs, Canada. The book presents three kids who are immune to deadly, alien plants that are taking over the world. They’re resistant to the various acids and traps the plants’ layout for them, although other people aren’t. Because of this, they’re currently humanity’s only hope in defeating the plant virus. In this world, not only do they have to survive, but they have to undergo the new and unfamiliar changes that are happening inside of them. I hold that this book deserves a 4 out of 5 stars. The author puts numerous cliff-hangers and plot twists throughout the book, making the reader want to read more and more. Even though some of the cliff-hangers and plot twists were too bizarre for the book, the book is still exciting to read. If any of you liked Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, I assure you that you’ll like this book too.
