Grade 2 students held a Reader’s Theater performance of The Gruffalo by award-winning British author Julia Donaldson. Reader’s Theater is like a play where memorization of lines is not required; instead, vocal expression helps tell the story rather than relying on costumes and sets. In our library classes with Miss Gleb, we use this strategy to practice reading while performing. It helps with comprehension and builds expression and confidence in public speaking.
This story of a mouse walking through the deep dark woods was an instant best-seller and is a favorite of many young Sharks. More information on The Gruffalo can be found here The Gruffalo.
