The Elite by Kiera Cass
The Elite is the second book in The Selection series and carries on the exemplary romantic fiction read written by Kiera Cass. The book follows America Singer as she advances through the competition for Maxon’s hand in marriage and becomes an Elite with only five other competitors. She continues to struggle with whether to choose between her two lovers while discovering the horrors that occur in the palace, including the truth about the royal family and their ancestors. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The author keeps the book suspenseful and mysterious while still incorporating the sweet moments of love. Kiera Cass expresses the characters’ emotions in a way that makes the readers able to sympathize with them. You can feel the character’s pain and joy as your own, making the book relatable and realistic. As relationships become strained and more people become in danger, The Elite continues to follow a creative and intense storyline, advancing in conflict and character development. If you enjoyed Divergent, The Hunger Games, or Twilight, this book will become a favorite, following the idea of danger and stress coming in between a classic love triangle.
