Dear Early Childhood and Elementary Parents,

Since the city of Busan has moved to Level 4 social distancing, the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education requires that schools implement the following modes of learning until Friday, September 3, 2021:

Grade Level

Mode of Learning

Early Childhood to Grade 2

Fully in-person

Grade 3 to Grade 5

Fully virtual

For Early Childhood to Grade 2 students, our enhanced safety procedures are in place, including mandatory use of masks, daily temperature checks, hand sanitizer, and no school attendance if sick, etc.

Students in Grades 3 – 5 will have a Morning Meeting using Zoom every morning. Students will be assigned work every morning in Seesaw, which they will independently work on and submit.
Students will be in regular contact with their teachers each day.
Teachers will prepare a bag of materials to be sent home for each Grade 3 -5 student.

Please also note that the start of the school year has been adjusted to Tuesday, August 17th.
Tuesday will be the first day of school for all students.

We recommend those new to the BFS virtual learning mode in Grades 3 through 5 to read our guidelines. In particular, you might find the below useful:

We have also uploaded additional resources on our website’s BFS virtual learning page.

Please expect your child’s teacher to contact you with further instructions and access credentials for Seesaw and/or Bloomz.

At this time, BFS has not received news of any positive COVID-19 cases within our school community.
If this changes we will notify parents.
We anticipate that we will return to in-person learning for all students as of Monday, September 6, 2021, and we hope to start Elementary after-school activities at that time.

Sincerely,

Lauren Harvey
