Prairie Lotus, is an entertaining historical fiction piece that Linda Sue Park wrote to describe Hanna’s journey as her family travels to a new frontier home. Her mom passed away a few years ago, and they are trying to make a new life for themselves. Hanna encounters lots of problems with her friends and her dreams. This novel is a detailed story about traveling to a new state, a new home, and a new school that Hanna is trying to get used to. I liked the book because it was easy to understand the characters and the dialogue is interesting to read. The story is told as Hanna’s life is happening. In my opinion, I would rate this book a four out of five stars because it’s very interesting and has a lot of details, but not much humor and fun. If you liked the book When You Trap a Tiger or Dragon Pearl maybe you will like the book, Prairie Lotus.
