Dear Parents,
Although there is much speculation that Korean schools will be physically opening soon, we have not received any formal instructions from the Busan Office of Education.
As soon as we hear more details, we will communicate with you.
Please be assured that we will be following safety protocols as required.
We will be presenting those safety protocols in a webinar tomorrow Wednesday, April 29th, at 3:00 PM.
You can join the webinar with this link: https://zoom.us/j/97518570912
We hope that you can join us live, but we will post a recording for those of you who cannot make it.
We will be sending out a survey afterward to gather feedback as we prepare to welcome back students.
It is very important that you provide this feedback.
We have some other calendar changes to announce:
In order to allow families to spend time together, there will be no school this coming Friday, May 1st.
As there is already a holiday next week on Tuesday, May 5th, Wednesday, May 6th, will not be a “catch-up” day (MS&HS).
Instead, we will have a regular school day for Middle and High School students.
We have made two adjustments to our calendar for next year.
We will be delaying the start of the school year from August 13th to August 24th.
While we cannot be sure, we anticipate that the 14-day quarantine for travelers returning to Korea will remain in place for next year.
The change in dates allows our new and returning staff to be in the country and potentially complete their quarantine before the start of school.
We will be making up our school days by changing our Parent-Teacher Conferences to Saturdays and by holding school on Hangul Proclamation Day and Buddha’s Birthday.
These changes will allow us to complete 181 days of school.
We have also adjusted our spring break to align ourselves with other SKAC schools and ensure full participation of SKAC activities and athletics.
You can see an updated calendar attached.
We look forward to welcoming our students back as soon as it is safe to do so and to making Busan Foreign School a vibrant place for students to learn.
Warm Regards,
Iain Macfarlane
BFS Principal
