Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt
Realistic Fiction

Fish in a Tree is an exhilarating realistic fiction book written by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. This book is based on a story of a 6th grade troublemaker, Ally, and the storyline flows on showing each step Ally takes forward in order to overcome her fears of reading and literature. As time passes, Ally is able to cooperate with her new teacher and mend friendship problems she had. In addition, this book leads readers to feel the lifelike world of the book and be able to illustrate the thrilling events that happened. Throughout this story, Ally is able to resolve dyslexia, a common learning difficulty issue, and be one of the students with the brightest minds. I chose to read this book because of the interest I had when I was glancing at the brief overview of this book, of how Ally would transform into a completely different character. Overall, I would give this book a five-star rating. This book is capable of expressing the emotions Ally is feeling, and referring to ideas where young readers are able to effortlessly relate and interpret to their lives. If you have enjoyed reading Rules by Cynthia Lord, this book would suit you perfectly with stirring plot pieces.
