Dear parents,

We are looking forward to welcoming you and your children at Busan Foreign School. At present, we believe we will be starting with face-to-face instruction operating under our enhanced safety protocols. We constantly evaluate the pandemic situation in Busan, and are in communication with the Ministry of Education. Should the situation change, we will immediately contact you.

We have been working hard to make our school safe for all. See the link for an overview of our enhanced safety protocols.

The best defense continues to be respiratory hygiene and increased education efforts in our school community.

  • Frequently wash hands.
  • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home if you are sick.

Your support with the above expectations is crucial.

As a reminder, we would appreciate it if you could watch our safety video with your child before the first day of school. This includes basic training on how to wash your hands, greet each-other, and wear your mask. Please note we are asking our staff to wear a mask, even if they have been vaccinated.

We would also like to remind you of our sick policy during enhanced safety. Your children should stay at home in either of the following two cases:

  • If living in the same unit with someone under self-quarantine due to travel or other circumstances.
  • If experiencing any Covid-19 (flu-like) symptoms. These include: fever, chills, cough, sore throat, headache, muscle ache, loss of sense of smell.

Children should be fever-free for five days before returning to school.

If your child did not develop a fever but experienced multiple symptoms (3 or more), they should stay at home for at least three days.

We strongly recommend consulting a doctor if experiencing any of the above symptoms.

On Saturday, August 14, you will receive a link with a health questionnaire. This questionnaire will need to be submitted prior to Monday, August 16th. Please follow the Korean CDC’s advice and avoid unnecessary gatherings, practice social distancing and respiratory hygiene, and wear your masks. Remember, you must notify the school if your child is suspected of Covid-19 exposure.

It is everyone’s responsibility to keep each other safe!

Please contact Mrs. Lauren Harvey (Early Childhood and Elementary) or Mr. Carl Brenneman (Upper School)  if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
