This year’s back to school orientation probably had its highest turnout ever. And we like that. Do not worry: we have taken good note and next year we will add chairs next to our school bleachers :-)
The event started with Alexa and Sean, two of our senior students, performing on stage and brightening the day. Soon after, Mr. Macfarlane addressed our school community. At the end, our school administration and student council members accompanied parents and students to their classrooms and meet their teachers.
Mr. Macfarlane thanked everyone for taking time out from their busy schedules to come to the school on Saturday. He also thanked the directors of the school, the office staff and maintenance staff who truly work so hard to make our school such a success.
Mr. Macfarlane is convinced this will be a good year of learning for all students and stressed the fact that our student’s’ success is determined by the close collaboration between teachers, students and parents. He reminded everyone that his door is always open to all. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Busan Foreign School and the school has been graduating students who attend premier Universities around the world. In addition to an outstanding academic program BFS offers a full-range of activities and athletics: Mr. Macfarlane strongly encouraged all students to take part in, and parents to invest themselves in the PTSO. Mr. Macfarlane also reminded everyone that the school offers a fully American academic curriculum that emphasises the character development crucial to success in the academics, work and life. He was referring to our SHARK traits which at BFS are embraced from our Early Childhood Program through Grade 12:
- Socially Conscious
- Hardworking
- Articulate Communicators
- Respectful Citizens
- Knowledgeable Critical Thinkers
We look forward to a truly exceptional year!
