Reading Workshop

Learning Objective: Students will be able to… compare and contrast nonfiction texts on the same topic and describe the importance of using multiple sources

Summary: As we conduct research for our opinion writing students will be using compare/contrast skills we have learned in reading to be successful researchers

Writing Workshop

Learning Objective: Students will be able to… write a fact based opinion essay using proper organization and conventions

Summary: Students will be publishing their final opinion piece of the unit- this time using facts to support their claims.

Math

Learning Objective: Students will be able to… multiply and divide using a chosen strategy to solve word problems

Summary: We will be analyzing multi-step word problems and honing the strategies we use to solve them

Social Studies / Science

Learning Objective: Students will be able to… explain how electricity is conducted and transferred in relation to conductivity

Summary: Students will be making their own flashlights to learn more about electrical energy and how it is transferred

Homework

Reading for 20 minutes a night (K5 – Gr5) is strongly recommended
