Book Buddies with Grade 3
This morning our friends from grade 3 came to read stories with us. Reading Buddy programs promote a higher interest and engagement in reading, improvement in social and communication skills, particularly for students learning English as a second language.
A Social Studies Lesson with Ms. Ness
Ms. Ness comes in once a week to provide our students with social-emotional support. The lesson pictured here led to many happy faces and lots of giggling as we read a story about how much a little boy loves his teddy bear. Then we followed up the lesson with some mindfulness and yoga.
Field Trip to the Fire Hall
Today’s trip was fun. We got to see the fire station, the fire truck and the ambulance. We met the firefighters and paramedics. We tried on their equipment and saw how to hook up a hose and learned where the water comes from. The ambulance had to go before we could see inside but I think the children were equally impressed by seeing it take off and turn on its siren.

Dear PK3 Parents and Families,
A warm welcome to PreK-3! I am excited to be returning to Busan Foreign School for my second year and to be starting my 8th year teaching. I eagerly anticipate getting to know you and your family. It is my great privilege to be your child’s teacher this year. I am glad to be working with Ms. Maria, our PK-3 Teaching Assistant.
I am from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada. I received my B.Sc. in Honors Biology from Laurentian University and my Bachelors of Education from/Nipissing University. I taught Kindergarten for two years at the American School of Kuwait, one year at the Pan American School of Bahia, and three years of early childhood education (2-4 year olds) at Bright Beginnings in Sault Ste Marie, ON Canada. I am here in Busan with my husband, Scotty Cressey, who is teaching middle school science and our 2 sons, Noah who is 6 years old and Ethan who is 4.
It is my goal to help your children transition into a school community. I want them to find the joy in coming to school each day and to foster a love of learning. It was Loris Malaguzzi that first developed a model of education that viewed the child as competent, capable and deserving of respect, a respect that recognizes children’s potentialities. It is my shared perception that your child is a capable and competent individual who can achieve anything with the right tools. I seek to create an environment where children are free to explore, experiment and make discoveries. Where their ideas are important and valued and taking risks is celebrated.
I am looking forward to working closely with you to make this the best year for all of us. It is important to me that your child comes home from school happy each day and with many new and exciting experiences and stories to share with you.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or keep in touch (email@example.com) when you have a question or concern about anything. I will always be happy to hear from you.
The student information form attached will help prepare me with some of the goals and desires you have for your child this year and will give me insight into valuable information regarding your child’s individual needs and personality. Please complete the form at your earliest convenience and it will remain with me confidentially.
Ms. Maria and I are looking forward to a wonderful year together with you and your child!
