On Saturday, April 6th, BFS hosted the Korea International Music Educators Association (KIMEA) Elementary Choral Festival. BFS students in Grades 4 and 5 performed along with students from Cheongna Dalton School, Dwight School Seoul, and Seoul Foreign School. The program included a diverse range of songs with a positive, energetic, and global focus. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to collaborate and celebrate their love of music. Over the past few weeks, Middle School Computer Science students have been learning the basics about Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. For their summative project of the unit, students created a chatbot where a user can have a discussion with a virtual character about a handful of topics of which the character knows about. Students used a supervised machine learning model in conjunction with the Scratch programming language to teach their chatbots how to predict conversational topics and converse with a user.

Middle school chatbot designers had a chance to showcase their projects and learning to others in the community to test, gather feedback, and return to the design cycle to make iterative improvements to their programs. Additionally, students were able to highlight what makes their chatbot unique and what must happen behind the scenes in order to have a fully working program!

On April 3rd and 4th, excitement filled the air as the BFS Elementary Anchored4Life Club hosted their annual service project. The Grade 4 and 5 A4L Team Leaders took the initiative to design and facilitate a snack sale and mini-games carnival including balloon darts, archery, Nerf challenge, and more! The Team Leaders were thrilled to lead a fun event for their classmates as they developed their teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. Through this project, funds totaling 550,000KRW were donated to the Korean Red Cross to support Turkiye-Syria earthquake relief and humanitarian assistance for vulnerable people in Korea. #a4lclub
